Robert is incredibly fortunate to have been able to work alongside some extremely talented directors over the years, who have given him not only incredible insights into directing, but also into the great joy of bringing a production to life and giving it over to the audience. His work as an actor and writer has given him working relationships with acclaimed and award-winning directors in film, theatre and television, all inspired artists who elevate their work to the highest levels, and which continue to inspire him to this day.
Collaborations with several writers, actors and directors not only inspired his work as an actor, but also fueled his talent for directing and writing. Robert collaborated with Casey Childs and Primary Stages Company on early drafts of Ariel Dorfman's "Death and the Maiden" (later a Broadway show and film) and several Romulus Linney plays at Duke University; original production of Wendy Wasserstein's "Isn't It Romantic", directed by Tony-winner Gerald Guttierez for Playwrights Horizons; on Ted Tally's "Terra Nova" with Gerald Guttierez for American Place Theatre; Mike Nichols on the original production of "Hurlyburly" by David Rabe; Pamela Berlin's production of "Elm Circle" at Playwrights Horizons; and many works in progress at Ensemble Studio Theatre, New Dramatists, the Actors Studio, and The Directors Company, among many others.
The experiences and incredible talents Robert continues to be lucky enough to work with inform his work not only as a director, but as an actor, writer and producer and fuel the joy of collaboration in his work as he shepherds new writers through the creative cauldron of writing to getting the play up in front of an audience.
